Box Top for Education Drive, Mar 4-April 30

We have envelopes in Unit 3 as well as a box at our table where people can drop off their box tops. All box tops will go to a local elementary school!

Book Drive, Ongoing until April 23
Bring books from home and donate to our book drive! These books will be going to our sister schools in Namibia and Turkey!

Informal Survey about Role Models & Influential Public Figures
Monica Aleman, Houston’s District 5890 Rotaract Representative is working with Mr. Adam Saffer, board member of an NGO called “Stop Hunger Now”, to put together a book of quotes from public figures that students across the country admire or find influential. Royalties from this publication will go directly to “Stop Hunger Now”, which provides free meals for schools in the developing world.

Got Service? Cool! Got Leadership? Awesome!  Take part by joining one of our committees!
  • Act for Sight: Work with local Bay Area optometrists & clinics to collect used glasses for shipment to rural communities in Guatemala.
    • Meetings MONDAYS from 7-8PM at 47 Evans.
  • International Service Committee: Focus on issues in health and education to improve the quality of life of people around the world! Come get involved in running the book drive to benefit our sister school in Africa!
    • Meetings THURSDAYS at 187 Dwinelle from 7-8PM.
    • We are still selling wristbands ($2)!! Stop by our table on Sproul (Tu-Th, 10AM-2PM) and buy one! Money will be going to Haiti Relief.
  • Local Service Committee: Education, we hear your call! Join to get involved in educational projects around Berkeley.
    • Meetings WEDNESDAYS at 249 Dwinelle from 7-8PM. There will be no meeting this Wednesday (3/17)
  • Sign-Up for Relay for Life!

    It currently costs only $10 to join our fight against cancer (until March 20th)! Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is a 24-hour event that raises money for cancer research, treatment, and advocacy.The even will take place on May 1-2 (Sat-Sun) from 10 am-10 am at the Edwards Stadium (Bancroft & Oxford). V. REMINDERS

To join the club, please come to our meetings and fill out sign-up slips for our events. Active members are asked to attend at least TWO events per semester and pay dues of $10/year OR $7/semester. Rotaractors will receive a FREE T-shirt and many other cool things. Dues can be paid after the meeting or at our tableTu-Th from 10AM-2PM.

April is Cal Rotaract’s “Rebuilding Month”

Join Rotarians in renovating a recreational center for disabled youth!

BORP (Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program) is a non profit organization, helps improve the health, independence and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness, and recreation programs.Thousands have benefited from their innovative programs, trainings, referrals, and consultations. BORP helps all types of physical disabilities with many participants are from low-income households.

We’ll be working with a site leader who has experience (whether it be carpentry, painting, etc.). Everyone is welcome. This is a great chance for to get involved and also a great learning experience.
