The end of the semester is coming up, and you’re feeling in the mood for Community Service! Two shifts: 8-12 and 12-4

We will be helping renovate houses of elderly and veteran citizens in our community. **More logistics to be sent out as we approach the day.**

Rotaract’s Annual Spring Banquet: A Night at the Oscars

Dine on scrumptious French-Vietnamese fusion cuisine while reminiscing the past semester’s events and memories with your friends and families! There will be live entertainment and recognition of all those who have outshown themselves through service this semester!

Come speak to one of Berkeley Rotary’s Past Presidents Mr. John Ferguson to learn about taking control of your own career regardless of major. Oh, he’s also a National Award Winning Designer so you don’t want to miss out on learning from him over a delicious dinner! Dinners will be subsidized $3/person up to the first 20 people so confirm fast!

International Committee Service Party
Thurs. April 14th | 7:00 – 8:00PM | 80 Barrows
Come out and support three great causes: Create WAPIs, Water Pasteurization Indicators, which save the lives of people all over the world by showing them if their water is safe to drink! Get creative and sew stuffed animals for children in Haiti! Support the people devastated by the earthquake in Japan by sending letters of hope through Hope Letters for Japan. Your messages will be translated into Japanese and you will provide encouraging messages to people in this time of need! EVERYONE is welcome!

Local Committee’s Game/Improv Night
Fri. April 15th | 7:00 – 9:00PM | Location TBA
Looking for a fun way to spend Friday night (or at least, the beginning of it)? Come out to Local Comm’s first ever game/improv night, where you can compete in a ton of hilarious games and contests! We’ll be setting up (along with help from the Fellowship directors!) some great improv activities a la “Who’s Line”, and there will be a ton of awesome prizes that you can win! This event is benefitting the Berkeley Food and Housing Project, so we are requesting a donation of one of the wish list items on the website, which you can find here: http://bfhp.org/donate/wish-list. We’ll have music, food, and a good time – what more do you need? Please come out to support us!

Rotary Peace Symposium Volunteer [TIME SENSITIVE]
Sun. March 17th | 10:00AM – 4:00PM | Berkeley City Club: 2315 Durant Ave
Attend the last ever symposium of the Rotary-UC Berkeley Peace Fellows—after this year, the UC Berkeley Peace Center closes in July. Help with setup and event logistics, and receive FREE entry into the event and lunch, worth $30! Listen to speakers from all over the world share their experiences. (It’s also possible to leave early if you would like to participate in the Dodgeball Tournament as well)

Family Dodgeball Tournament

After loading up on free stuff at Cal Day, come rep your family in the second family tournament of the semester! This will be tournament style – and one family will end up as the Dodgeball champs! Each team will be limited to 6-8 players, so be sure to RESERVE YOUR SPOT HERE!

Dreamin’ big? Do you have elaborate ideas of what you want to do in the future but no idea how to get there? Or are you stuck without any idea of what to do? Come out to this inspiring event featuring speakers from DeYoe Wealth Management who will teach you all about managing your finances, how to save for and grasp your dreams! You will learn how to prepare for the rest of your lives as well how your important your behavioral choices are!

District 5160 Retreat: Rotaract into Space!
Fri. April 22nd | 6:00 – 10:00PM | UC Berkeley, Campanile Esplanade
This 4-hour, mini-retreat is an opportunity to network, meeting Rotaractors and Rotarians in 5160 and learn what this year’s theme, Building Communities, Bridging Continents really means. Dinner will be served and we’ll end the evening with an “Amazing-Race” style scavenger hunt! $5 cost to be paid at the door!

National Rebuilding Together Day

Enjoy a day of service dedicated to bringing new life to one of Berkeley’s local elementary schools in partnership with Rebuilding Together. Full-day volunteers receive a free t-shirt and lunch! An opportunity for Cal students who are/were student-athletes to tutor current high school football players at Berkeley High. Gain 1 credit under ED 98/198. Time Commitment: 3 hrs/week over the course of Fall ‘11 semester.

III. Wristbands for Japan!

All this week and next, we are selling Red Japan Relief Effort wristbands for a $2-3 donation! All proceeds will go toward the Rotary Japan and Pacific Island Disaster Relief Fund. Stop by our table on Sproul to buy one for yourself and your family and friends! We table Mon-Thurs, from 10AM – 2PM!

IV. Register for Relay for Life!

Sign up for Cal Rotaract’s Relay for Life team and join us in the fight against cancer! Relay for Life is a 24-hour event that fundraises money for cancer research, treatment, and advocacy. It will be on Saturday, April 30 @ 10 am – Sunday, May 1 @ 10 am at Memorial Glade!
