Welcome week is here and it’s time to meet the Committee Chairs!
Cal Rotaract is the largest service organization at UC Berkeley. To ensure progress on our service initiatives, the club is organized through 4 committees. Come out to this event to meet the Committee Chairs, find out how to join, and learn about our upcoming service projects for this semester!
LOCAL COMMITTEE is in charge of organizing local events around the Bay Area, and delves into social issues affecting the greater East Bay. Past service projects include events taking place in homeless shelters, schools, food kitchens, parks, daycare centers, and senior homes.
INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE is in charge of bringing international issues to the attention of our club members. In the past they’ve packed medical supplies to ship abroad for school feeding programs, built low cost prostheses for low income individuals in foreign countries, and fundraised money to donate chicken and a year’s worth of education for a girl in a developing country.
INTERACT COMMITTEE outreaches to our high school affiliate organization: Interact. They organize joint events with local high school Interact clubs and coordinate our biannual Interact Stayover, where high schoolers from around the Bay Area come up to UC Berkeley for a weekend to learn more about college and the continuation of service into higher education and beyond.
ROTARY COMMITTEE outreaches to our adult-run parent organization, Rotary International. The committee organizes events that link Cal Rotaract with this powerful network, by hosting a mentorship program, putting on conjoined events with Rotary, facilitating professional development workshops, and sponsoring their event of the semester–Ignitus, a Ted Talks inspired event to show that service doesn’t just stop after college. See you there next Wednesday as our committees reveal their service themes for this semester!
