To us, Henry was more than just a member, more than just a friend. He was a role model for each and every one of us. He was the constant soft spoken “I’ll be there” that we could always depend on to lend that extra hand. Rain or shine, weekend or weekday, he truly embodied our motto of what it means to hold “Service Above Self” and inspired new and old members alike to follow suit.
Never the one to boast or try to make a production out of his generosity, we all came to see and love him as a man of action and few words. Every now and then, after a successful day’s event, we would be rewarded with the trademark smile that was as bright as it was genuine. Through the suggestion of his peers, and the granted consent of Mr. and Mrs. Treadway, the Treadway Award for Outstanding Service was created to help keep his strength alive so that generation after generation of Rotaract members can continue to be inspired and motivated by his example.
The Award is granted to those who share the qualities of
- Generosity
- Humility
- Compassion
- Selflessness
and selected by the observing officer board of each particular semester.
