Nikita Dhar | President

Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

Major: Molecular and Cell Biology

Year: Junior

Hobbies: Traveling, exploring the great outdoors, going on SF adventures, long drives, listening to sad acoustic music, taking the 51B to Philz Coffee, dabbling in the ukulele, napping, meeting new doggos, making spreadsheets, having boba as a meal, attempting to harmonize, listing things out (this was such a thrill)

Service Passions: Providing educational opportunities to all, increasing mental health awareness, and equal access to healthcare

About Me:

Hi everyone, I’m Nikita and I’m from the far away land of Houston, Texas! You’ll probably hear a ton of jokes from Yash and others about how I ride a horse to school, regularly attend the rodeo, and love barbecue-- I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations. When I came to Cal my freshman year, I assumed everyone knew what an “Eno” was. Enoing is almost a personality trait for me, so when people looked at me in bewilderment I was heartbroken. Enos are a brand of hammocks and I’m passionate about hammocking on the Glade near sunset. So if you ever see a little burrito perched between two trees in a colorful sack it’s probably me-- come say hi! If I’m not there, you can probably find me studying in the depths of Main Stacks/Moffitt, or goofing around in Eshleman late into the night. I’m always down for a study session or to explore new places in Berkeley, so hit me up if you ever want a new friend! Hope to see you around :’)

Why Rotaract?

When I initially joined Rotaract and attended my first GM, I was in awe by the coherence and ease with which the meeting flowed, the kindness and humility of the officers, and the genuine mission of service above self. I remember gazing at the line of officers which wrapped around the room, and feeling intrigued by how they could all be so passionate about this organization. In that moment, I knew that this club was not the one to let get away. As someone who has become actively involved in a variety of organizations at Cal, I can attest to how unique this club is and how it is unparalleled in the genuinity of its mission. Early on, this club became synonymous with “home” for me, despite the irony of it being situated almost 2,000 miles from my actual home. It became a safe space in my life where competition and comparison went awry and amiability took its place. Cal Rotaract became the community I was longing for exquisitely intertwined with the service I am passionate about, and has truly defined my college experience. I was fortunate to serve as a Fellowship Chair last year so I could continue to extend that “home away from home” to others, and since I couldn’t get enough, I’m here again for another exciting year as President. Come out to a meeting and join the family!

Nola Vu | Co-Vice President

Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

Major: Public Health and MCB

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: cooking? (hopefully one day I’ll get better at it), I’m a big foodie so researching and trying new food, pretending to be an active person, swimming, photography, catching up on TV shows, reading

Service Passions: Educational equity, youth empowerment, and spreading awareness on the importance of mental health and diversity in all of its forms

About Me:

Hello, my name is Nola (yes, as in New Orleans, Louisiana) and I tend to overthink things, such as this bio. I’ve lived in Norcal for most of my life, specifically South San Francisco (650 > 415, iykyk), but I still don’t understand the weirdness of Bay Area weather. I sincerely enjoy talking to new people even though I may seem really shy, so please please come up and talk to me! I willingly listen to Kpop and most music genres and am down to talk about many random things, from Oxford commas to Cal’s swimming pools. Also, I’m a huge foodie (about 99.9% of my YouTube recommended page consists of videos about food) and I don’t like eating alone, so if you ever want to try a new restaurant, feel free to invite me to come with!

Why Rotaract?

To be honest, I initially joined Rotaract because it was the first community service club at Berkeley that I was able to find online. I knew I wanted to get involved in student organizations, so I figured I would stick with something I enjoyed doing—volunteering. However, as pretty much all of the officers have reiterated, Rotaract goes beyond serving communities, it is also such a wonderful way to form lasting connections with amazingly talented and kind people and to be inspired by all of the challenging and rewarding projects that Rotaract is involved in.

Dylan Supencheck | Co-Vice President

Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

Major: Intended Computer Science

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: binge watching, photography, staying up til sunrise, D&D, exploring new places

Service Passions: Coming from a majority low-income high school, my main service passion is equal access to education and educational resources for all students! From this environment, I learned how much of a disparity there is between students in terms of access to resources and opportunities. While it’s a large, complex issue, I hope to do what I can to make at least somewhat of a difference in this area of service.

About Me:

Hi! I’m Dylan and I’m from just an hour south–San Jose, CA. I could talk for days about my service passion above, as well as shows/movies I love like Bojack Horseman, Brooklyn 99, this one D&D show I watch, Parks & Rec, Arrested Development, and anything Marvel! When you meet me, you might notice that I’m pretty quiet or a bit distant. While I’m definitely a little shy, I’m really open to making new friends and meeting new people, I swear! Even if I’m glued to my phone or behind a camera, feel free to say hi. I have a habit of being terrible at initiating but if you do, I’d love to get to know you!

Why Rotaract?

Coming to Berkeley, it was kind of terrifying to be in a whole new environment without anyone I knew, so I decided to join a group that I hoped would be filled with the same wholesome people and spirit of service as my Interact club was at home. Luckily, my hopes were right! Rotaract turned out to be everything I hoped for and more (cheesy, sorry) and I can’t wait to see what this year holds.

Yash Chainani | Co-Vice President

Contact: [email protected]

Year: Junior

Major: Chemical Engineering

Hobbies: Working out, brewing coffee, exploring and trying out new coffee places, hiking, traveling, photography

Service passions: Mental health awareness
About Me: Hi! I’m Yash and I am in love with Coffee! I enjoy brewing my own coffee, exploring new coffee places to study, trying out coffee at those new coffee places, photographing coffee, photographing cafes, and just everything coffee. When I’m not so obsessed with coffee, I love hiking, being outdoors, or being with friends. My ideal hangout is just sitting and talking with friends without having to do anything like playing board games or partying. In school, I am a second year chemical engineering major and I am an international student from Singapore. I’ve grown up in Singapore my entire life and served in the military there for two years as well since Singapore enforces military service.
Why Rotaract? This might sound really cheesy but I joined Rotaract because I felt as if the Universe had been sending me many signals to join the club. Hear me out: on a visit to india during the summer before I began at Berkeley, I met up with a friend who told me about Rotaract at his college in India. Then in spring semester of freshman year, I met Prachi (a previous officer) at a chemical engineering event and that’s when I first heard about Rotaract at Cal. The following summer, when I went back home to Singapore, my best friend told me that he had joined Rotaract at his college in Singapore. So after all these signs, I was like “man, I gotta join Rotaract now”. And a lot of the decision, apart from being motivated by my gut, was also motivated by how nice people in Rotaract are and how much they care about the world around them. When I first joined Rotaract last semester (fall of Sophomore year), everyone was really welcoming and actually put in a lot of effort into getting to know me despite the fact that I was just a new member. In many clubs, one has to spend a semester or two to fully get to know people but that certainly wasn’t the case with Cal Rotaract. Everyone here is so warm and approachable that they make going to service events really enjoyable and fulfilling. Joining Cal Rotaract really has been one of the best decisions I’ve made thus far.

Internal Board

Alejandro Aguirre | Rotary Co-Liaison

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Economics/ Applied Mathematics

Year: Junior

Hobbies: Swimming, Legos, Pro-Wrestling, DND

Service Passions: Economic Development and Poverty Alleviation

About Me:

I'm a third year student from the Bay Area, and a first generation college student. I speak English and Spanish, and my family comes from Peru. I dabble in cooking and mostly just do homework in my apartment, though I'm always available to hang out. I've been called a pretty good listener by my friends and roommates, so feel free to come to me to talk about anything, I love hearing peoples' stories.

Why Rotaract?

Rotaract is one of the few clubs in Berkeley where every member is fun to hang out with and easy to talk too. The emphasis on community is absolutely wonderful and so many different people join to unite under the common goal of helping others in need. It's a club experience like no other and I truly hope you join us!

Emily Diehl | Design Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Anthropology

Year: Junior

Hobbies: Video games, culinary arts, exploring near and far, and creating!

Service Passions: Since a young age, I have always loved making art and within the past few years I began creating digitally. I am really excited to use my skills for an amazing cause to make our projects known and bring the community together.

About Me:

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am Cal Rotaract’s design chair for the 2020 year! I am a transfer student from Berkeley City College, originally from Humboldt County, California. Before college, I was able to experience being a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in France (District 5130 → 1660) where I was fortunate to learn another language, travel throughout Europe, and make lifelong friendships! Other than academics, in my free time I love trying new food places with friends, cooking and trying new recipes, painting and drawing with charcoal, watching series, reading comics, playing games, and hiking!

Why Rotaract?

I joined Cal Rotaract because I have always found Rotary providing a home away from home atmosphere--wherever you may be, you can meet a fellow Rota-person and instantly connect! I also wanted to become involved with the community near and far by participating in service projects and continue my involvement with Rotary since high school!

EunJee Choi | Historian

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Molecular and Cell Biology

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Photography, traveling, reading, jewelry-making, cooking, baking, playing the piano and violin.

Service Passions: Environment protection, equal opportunity, limited English proficiency (LEP) population

About Me:

I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures. I can be quiet until I warm up to you and become crazy (you'll probably regret it). I'm always down to meet up, chat, and catch up—especially over good food <3. Hit me up if you want to bake, cook, go take photos, or fangirl about k-pop/k-dramas!

Why Rotaract?

After looking for a service club at Berkeley, the lovely people, events and opportunities made it a given that I stayed active in the club. I love the service events that Rotaract puts on as well as the people it attracts. There's so much positive energy that makes me feel happy about spending my time with this amazing club! Rotaract is an easy way that makes forgetting about Berkeley's stress easy

Jennifer Sun | Treasurer

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Economics

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Cooking, learning k-pop dances, reading, playing badminton, spending time with friends

Service Passions: Promoting equal access to opportunities, helping youth feel empowered, improving the environment

About Me:

Hi, my name is Jennifer! I’m from SoCal, so unsurprisingly I love going to the beach and must rely on thick jackets when it’s below 60 °F. I love spending quality time with friends, whether it’s spent going to the gym, trying new restaurants or just talking. I’m down to talk about pretty much anything from pop culture to new business ideas, so feel free to strike up a conversation if you see me. In my free time, I also enjoy listening to new music, watching Marvel movies and petting dogs. One of my goals for this year is to gain three new hobbies, so if you are looking for someone to try new things with or just to hang out with, let me know!

Why Rotaract? I enjoyed volunteering throughout high school, and wanted to continue doing so at Berkeley. After Jocelyn told me about Rotaract my freshman year, I went to the first meeting; I could immediately see how the club members were very welcoming and passionate about their work. After several service events and socials with the Mac-Oscars, it became overwhelmingly evident that this was a club I wanted to stay with, so I did. I want to continue contributing to my community throughout my time here, and Rotaract provides the opportunity to do so with an amazing group of caring individuals.

Nick Melamed |Treasurer

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Intended Business Administration

Year: Freshman

Hobbies: Reading, spending time with family and friends, profound conversations, enjoying nature, basketball

Service Passions: Basic needs, economic development, anything environment-related

About Me:

Hi everyone! I'm from the faraway land of Los Angeles, California. I love talking about anything related to sports, stocks, business, etc., so feel free to come and talk to me about it! I also adore dogs and anything to do with animals. I love the beach, especially for surfing and watch a gorgeous sunset afterwards. Hip-hop, pop, jazz, and rap are my favorite music genres, and I have weird addictions to a good chicken Caesar salad, In-N-Out, and pizza. You can find me at the RSF really early in the morning, or late at night playing pickup. I also volunteer at the Food Pantry; stop by and say hello! I truly enjoy trying new things, and I'm always willing to go above and beyond to expand my horizons.

Why Rotaract?

I joined Interact in high school, but I left without any real satisfaction; I wanted to do more. I joined Cal Rotaract immediately, and it has been nothing short of phenomenal. In addition to an amazing group of people, Rotaract provides such great service and professional development opportunities, a combination that's very difficult to find. Everyone is so genuine, and we really do great things in the name of a greater cause. I plan to become a Rotarian upon finishing my higher education, and Rotaract has definitely prepared me for anything that comes my way.

Sam Perkins | Rotary Co-Liaison

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Economics/ French

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Dodgeball, Baseball, Football, cooking, eating what I cook

Service Passions: Bringing people together and anything that benefits kids

About Me:

Hi, I'm Sam and I'm from a very small town in rural northern California (around 7000 people). I played lots of sports growing up, primarily baseball and football, so if you want to catch a game or talk sports hit me up (Giants tickets should be cheap this season). I'm a member of the Rotaract coed-dodgeball team. We're reigning champs this semester and if you're interested in playing let me know, no skill required. I work the graveyard shift at Moffit so I see you pulling those all-nighters and I'm rooting for you. If you need a little pep-talk come over and I'll get you hyped for more cramming. I'm very outgoing, though I am bad at remembering names. So, if I'm talking to you and apologize for forgetting your name please pretend that you also forgot mine, so I don't feel bad. We're already good friends, you just don't know it yet. Also, I just remembered that I've been family head for like a year. Join the Freds.

Why Rotaract?

I've been involved with Rotary in one way or another for years. I was Interact president in middle school (This is really when I peaked in life) and an officer in high school. Rotary sent me to Switzerland for a year during my gap year. I met incredible people and ate an ungodly amount of Fondue. Rotaract helped me find a community in a school literally four times the size of my hometown. If I'm being completely honest I didn't participate very much in the service part of the club my first semester. I almost exclusively came to the social events. No worries if this sounds like you. Come, hang out, meet some people and have a good time. If you're anything like me, eventually you'll want to take part in the service. Tl; DR: It's pretty lit not gonna lie.

Shannon Lee | Co-Human Relations Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Molecular and Cell Biology

Year: Freshman

Hobbies: cooking and eating new foods, learning new skills, sleeping, not sleeping, late night hangouts, obsessing over Mamamoo, drinking boba or trying new boba shops, playing basketball, having thought provoking conversations, origami, exploring new cities

Service Passions: equal and sustainable access to basic needs and rights, helping reduce language barriers in healthcare and society, social change education

About Me:

Hi everyone! My name is Shannon and I have lived in the Bay Area my entire life, currently residing in San Ramon. I am a boba fanatic and will 99% of the time join you if you ask to get boba (the 1% being I have spent all my money on boba already). If you have or want any boba recommendations, let me know :). I also love eating A LOT and will 100% of the time join you if you want to try a unique food or new restaurant. I specifically love most Asian foods, especially Korean food like tteokbokki, kimchi jjigae, KBBQ, etc. I'm also a huge fan of Mamamoo and will 110% fangirl with you about them if you mention their name. You can catch me playing basketball at the RSF or probably somewhere studying around campus with a cup boba. Don't be afraid to say hi! I honestly love meeting new people and am excited to meet everyone this year!

Why Rotaract?

Why not Rotaract is the true question. I honestly have always been connected with the Rotary Organization. My brother was first part of our high school's Interact Club and I grew to love their mission and the people, even though I was still in middle school at the time. When I got to high school,  I was huge part of my school's Interact Club and fell in love with community service and wanted to continue to be part of this amazing organization in college. One of the reasons I actually applied to Berkeley was because it has one of the largest, most active Rotaract Clubs in the world!!! Cal Rotaract is such a meaningful club with so many kind, thoughtful people that I couldn't imagine my college experience without it.

Shuka Park | Historian

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Public Health: Biostatistics & Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Taekwondo, Hiking/Biking, Trying New Things, Photography/Videography, Eating a LOT (does this even count?)

Service Passions: Economic Inequality and Access to Education

About Me:

Hey! My name is Shuka, and I'm honored to serve as one of your historians this term! I was born and raised in Japan for part of my childhood, so if you want to talk about Japanese culture (both pop and traditional) I'm down for it! I'm also half-Korean but beyond being passionate about taekwondo and loving Korean cuisine, I unfortunately don't know much, but if you have any K-pop recommendations I'd love to listen to them! I tend to like being active and trying out new things, but I also very much enjoy sitting/lying down somewhere and just talking about life for hours on end. I'm down to meet up and get to know you better as a person and just talk about random stuff, seriously! I'm also willing to just hear people out when they need to rant about something or ask for advice because, honestly, I think we should all help each other out when times get tough. After all, life can be more colorful when struggling through it together. Fun fact: I love plushies!

Why Rotaract?

It's kind of a long story, but it involves Venmo blocks about speeding tickets, learning Japanese kanji in first grade, and a LOT of soul searching. Ask me about it if you're interested!

Viviana Lademan | Co-Human Relations Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Sustainable Environmental Design

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Reading, drawing, cooking, hiking, yoga

Service Passions: Environmental health and sustainability, empowerment through education

About Me:

Hey! My name is Viviana and I am excited to be your Co-HR chair this year! Some fun facts about me are that I grew up in both Germany and the US, I scuba dive, and I read far too many webtoons. If you read webtoons too I would love to fangirl about them with you! When I have the time I really enjoy hanging out with friends and going to the archery range, hiking or playing tennis. Let me know if you want to tag along!

Why Rotaract?

Volunteering has always been a big part of my life so I wanted to find a place at UC Berkeley that allowed me to stay involved with community service. I went to Rotaract’s first GM on a whim and am so glad that I did! At Rotaract I found a fun and welcoming community that aims to build a better world together. The service events, socials, and support I found at Cal Rotaract have really enriched my life here at Berkeley!

Service Passions: environment, education, and youth empowerment!

About Me:

Howdy! My name is Aady and I'm so happy to be one of your Fellowship co-chairs for 2020! I'm from San Jose, CA and I'm a freshman at Berkeley (this will be my second semester as part of Cal Rotaract). I would describe myself as initially shy but more talkative as I get to know you, and I'm so excited to meet y'all during events and socials! Some stuff I enjoy outside of Rotaract and service include the various food places around Berkeley (Marugame Udon is my favorite!), playing club badminton, video games (I love anything Nintendo), and action movies like Star Wars and Marvel! I'm excited to work with y'all this year, go bears!

Why Rotaract?

After being part of my high school Interact Club, Rotaract seemed to be an exciting jump at Berkeley to continue serving my community. I was instantly welcomed into a club with the same passion as my own, and I got the opportunity to work in the Interact Committee planning the Stayover! The community along with the numerous opportunities to perform meaningful service made this club super unique to me, compelling me to stay and look to become even more involved!

Calum McLaren | Fellowship Co-Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Molecular and Cell Biology

Year: Junior

Hobbies: Playing pick up basketball, playing guitar, going on runs, cooking and baking, playing video games and board games, going on runs and hiking

Service Passions: Trash clean ups, helping the needy, giving back to the local community

About Me:

I’m a 20 year old from Alameda studying MCB. I’ve got a tiny little jack russel at home that I miss dearly, but I take my mind off of her by staying active and by hanging out with my friends. Joining Rotaract has been the best decision I’ve made at call so far.I hope to see you all at the events this year!

Why Rotaract?

I chose to stay with Cal Rotaract because of the people. You can help your community whenever you want, but only Rotaract offers a welcoming environment packed full of more friendly people than you could count. It’s super easy to join and I’ve never had a reason to do anything but enjoy myself to the fullest and create bonds I’ll take with me through college and after.

Ethan Garcia | International Committee Co-Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Molecular and Cell Biology

Year: Freshman

Hobbies: Traveling, reading, swimming, paddling, going out with friends

Service Passions: Increasing mental health awareness, environmental sustainability, education

About Me:

Hello there! I’m Ethan and I’m from San Francisco. I love spending time with friends and family, traveling all over the world, and exploring the outdoors. Whether its football, basketball, or dragon boat, I love playing and watching sports. I am excited to serve as your International Committee Cochair and meet more amazing Rotaractors!

Why Rotaract?

I discovered Interact during my freshman year in high school. When I joined Interact, I learned a lot about community service through volunteering at events such as marathons, beach cleanups, and food drives. I wanted to continue giving back to my community so I decided to join Cal Rotaract. During the first meetings I attended, I met so many friendly people who had the same goal of placing “Service Above Self.” I was grateful for members and officers who were all very kind and welcoming, which was a stark contrast from the competitive atmosphere of other clubs. In every event that I volunteered in, I was able to get to know more kind-hearted individuals who share my goal of working hard to improve our community.

Heather Shin | Interact Committee Co-Chair

Major: Intended Integrative Biology

Year: Freshman

Hobbies: Baking, painting, thrifting, playing volleyball, making videos, language/culture learning, traveling, & finding new places to try on yelp!

Service Passions: Equal access to affordable healthcare and increasing mental health awareness

About Me:

Hi there! I'm a local San Josean who's on a quest to find the best matcha lattes and even better people. Good puns and flowers make my day and I am always itching to recreate a crazy recipe I see online. Aside from the hobbies listed above, I am an unapologetic boba connoisseur, a lover of amusement parks, and an aspiring explorer always down for a spontaneous adventure! I'm usually enjoying my favorite true-crime podcasts and vibing to a bunch of music (mostly contemporary R&B, indie, and hip-hop) while I walk to classes or have some downtime. I love meeting new people and hanging out, so can't wait to see you around!

Why Rotaract?

Coming into college, I wanted to gain a better understanding of who I was both as an individual and as a leader, discover a community of great people, and find a way to apply what I know to benefit my community, prompting me to join Rotaract. I had been an active member of my Interact club back in highschool, even having the pleasure of being part of District Council my senior year, which really exposed me to the countless and priceless opportunities being part of Rotary had in store. Being a past CBRS attendee, I was ecstatic to be on the other side of things, helping to organize and plan the very event that I held near and dear to my heart. The added bonus of such supportive people and and great experiences made me excited to stay and grow in my Rotaract journey. I can’t wait for this year to get started and I’m looking forward to making CBRS the best it’s ever been!

Why Rotaract?

I was in Interact and Interact District Council 5160 in high school, so it was a given that I joined Rotaract as well! The reason that I stayed is primarily thanks to the people. Everything about this club is so wholesome and positive, I honestly can't believe I'm lucky enough to call these people my friends. They helped me realize my self-worth and supported me no matter what the circumstances were. I also realized how much I wanted to return the favor and be that person for others as well. Kate Ba |Local Committee Co-Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Business Administration & Psychology

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Reading fantasy books, joining spin classes, exploring new places & binge-watching shows/animes!

Service Passions: Mental health awareness, diversity and inclusion, human rights

About Me:

Hello! My name is Kate, and I'm originally from SoCal (#626represent!). In my free time at Cal, you can find me reading at the Berkeley Public Library, snacking a whole lot in Southside/Downtown, and trying to get swole at the RSF (work in progress XD). I love making new friends, and though people say I'm a bit intimidating (idk I'm tall i guess) please don't hesitate to say hi! Feel free to hit me up if you wanna talk about Marvel, anime, books, cycling, or anything really!

Why Rotaract?

I was formerly involved in the business community at Cal, before I decided it was time to pivot into doing something I felt was more meaningful! I am so thrilled to be your 2020 Local Committee Chair because Rotaract is really a wonderful organization full of genuine people. Join us to find your way of making a greater impact in our community, no matter what your service passions are!

Lauren Dela Rosa | Interact Committee Co-Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Math with a Teaching Concentration

Year: Freshman

Hobbies: Tennis, Reading, Scrolling through Twitter, Listening to music, Netflix binging, Doing absolutely nothing

Service Passions: Educational opportunities, Creating equal opportunity, Mental health awareness, Environmental sustainability, Empowerment for underrepresented groups

About Me:

Hi, my name is Lauren (and I have spent the last three days trying to figure out what to write for this.. oops). I'm from Sacramento, a place which I think needs no more than three days for touring but, for me, will always be home. I love my two cats and often use the excuse of doing laundry to go back home to see them. I'm a bit awkward, so I may seem quiet at first, but that will quickly change the more you get to know me. I am always down to grab some boba and talk, so if you ever need a friend, come find me! Just look for the girl with the BTS lanyard ^-^

Why Rotaract?

During orientation, my leaders stressed the importance of finding a community here at Cal and recommended using clubs as an easy way of doing that. I tried going to many different clubs' general meetings but honestly never felt at home (through my own fault; they were all lovely people, I just overthink). That is, until I came to Rotaract's. The environment was genuinely welcoming and the people seemed to be interested in getting to know me. My gut feelings were right, and the more involved I became with the club, the more I knew I wanted to stay. It really is just a group of wonderful people who want nothing more than to serve the world and help others. I think that's a truly rare and beautiful thing.

Louise Candeloza | Project Development Chair

Contact: [email protected]

Major: Interdisciplinary Studies - Psychobiology and Global Health

Year: Sophomore

Hobbies: Dance, Archery, Travel, Adventures, Mystery

Service Passions: Mental Health & Global Issues

About Me:

Hello! I’m Louise, a sophomore whose culture is from both SoCal (LA County) and the Philippines. Starting conversations with me consists of you asking for my major and me explaining the whole deal of how I created it. Once you get to know me, our conversations may lead to unpredictability and spontaneity (in a good way!), which will hopefully keep everything interesting. I am also currently in the Cal Archery Team so I’m a tough judge when it comes to people “shooting their shot”. Ha! Just kidding 🙂 Come talk to me about adventures ‘cause I love trying new things. If you’re not interested in that, then still talk to me! I have too much passion for a bunch of other things, trust me.

Why Rotaract?

I have been a part of the Rotary International family ever since I was young because my stepdad was a member of a local Rotary Club and my family goes along with him on every service event. I started as a member of Interact club at age 12 and continued being a part of it as I established the organization in my high school. Seeing my family put their passion into service has inspired me to do the same and thus continue to join Rotaract club in college. I grew up seeing different community issues and helping in every single one of them has given me the joy/satisfaction that eventually helped give rise to my major and my motivation to go to medical school.

About Me:

Hi everyone, I'm Naomi! I'm from San Diego, but I never adjusted to the hot weather despite living there for 17 years (catch me dancing in the rain at Cal). I reallyyy enjoy eating, my sweet tooth is insane, and I could actually eat noodles for the rest of my life. If you enjoy making puns please share them with me. I will genuinely laugh at them.

Why Rotaract?

I was very involved in community service in high school and I wanted to continue into college, so I joined Rotaract! It was a great opportunity to make service a bigger part of my life, as well as connect with an amazing, passionate group of people who value giving back to the community as much as I do.
