Spring 2019 Interns

Interns make up a large part of Cal Rotaract’s internal functions. They have worked countless hours to bring you promotional and marketing materials for club events and help increase efficiency of club operations. Whether it be the photos you get tagged in, the banners on Facebook, planning the behind the scenes of Benefit Show, or even parts of the newsletter, interns offer so much to our club, and we want to recognize them as part of this special edition of Humans of Cal Rotaract. These are some of their experiences.

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

So far, I’m really enjoying the experience in learning how events are planned! I’m excited to learn even more this semester. 🙂

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

When I went to get boba with my mentor and met up with other members of Rotaract! The stories they told were super entertaining (and strange). Getting to know people through a really chill setting is definitely one of my favorite ways to familiarize myself with other Rotaract members.

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned that planning large-scale events take a lot of time, dedication and flexibility. So, thank you Neha for taking time to train all four of us interns!! Much love <3

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

Really chill. We had a meeting where Neha delegated roles for each of us so we all know what we have to do for the event coming up. Everyone’s just really chill and Neha’s been really fun! 🙂

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

I haven’t made too many memories yet because we’ve all been busy the past few weeks. One memorable moment was when Jennifer, Shirley, Liam and I had to present the details for the Benefits Show instead of Neha, but Liam didn’t show up without notice so we had to yolo it lmao but it went well so! 😀

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I’m still learning of the importance of delegation. It’s honestly too hard for one person to plan an entire event, especially on a large-ish scale as the Benefits Show, and going over all of the various sides that need to be figured out and delegating jobs to different members just reminded me of the importance of teamwork and communication too.

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

I really like it! I learned a lot about what it takes to keep Cal Rotaract running smoothly. Possibly more importantly, I’ve met a lot of new and passionate people who are dedicated to what they do, both in school and in the community.

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

Overall I enjoy the meetings with Neha and the other interns; both the planning and outside meetings are enjoyable because of the people involved. There was one time we were picking alliterative nicknames and we came up with some pretty good ones for Neha 🙂 Go PDC!

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned that it takes a lot of time, effort and coordination but will totally be worth it in the end! I’d like to tell Neha that I enjoy learning with her and thanks for being super cool and relatable 🙂

It has been a great time this semester! I felt like I learned a lot regarding to the field of HR, while having the opportunity to get involved in service activities around Berkeley. I also love the warm and supportive community at Cal Rotaract as well!

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

I would say it has been pretty rewarding. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to help out a service organization internally and also get more involved with volunteer work myself since disconnecting from it after high school. I really enjoy the time I spend with my staffer and co-intern as well!

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

The funniest moment in my internship experience was my co-intern talking to me and my staffer about blackpink. I have never seen someone so invested into a k-pop group like that, it really made me want to check them out. Shelley also got us a cupcake one day and it made me really happy!

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned that the Human Relations position comes with a lot of work but not a lot of recognition. Shelley puts a lot of effort into highlighting other members of the club and improving the experience for everyone that goes out to the club events. I would like her to know that I admire her work ethic and organization a lot. She deserves to be appreciated for everything that she has done for Rotaract!

I’m a freshman intending to study psychology and philosophy. I’m originally from Seattle, WA but I really love it here. I’m in AFX and if I’m not studying or getting good with friends then I’m probably watching dance videos.

I feel like my internship has just started. It has been a great semester with hard working and committed women that form the design committee! I have had a blast!

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

My funniest/ embarrassing moment during this semester as an intern was when I showed up to Natasha’s apartment (for a meeting), only to receive a message from her, saying that that we were meeting in Barrows! It was more funny than anything because I realized that that was what I got for showing up early, and not at Berkeley time!

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned how to effectively use Photoshop to create aesthetically pleasing weekly calendars! Thank you Natasha! I am glad I was given this opportunity and I love you!

I have learned that historians are among the most underrated officers (no hate on the others, y’all still work really hard). Therefore, I would like to thank Charlotte and Dylan for being some of the most chill and patient people I have ever met!

Photoshoot with Charlotte! And Dylan! Best thing about having interns is that now the historians are also in the pictures
